Band students earn spots in All-Region

From the Peanut Gallery... “I think professional certified police officers should be the only ones that carry weapons,” senior government teacher John Littman said. “That being said, I think what they should do is take four, maybe five teachers, and in summertime send them to an eight week police academy. Make them police officers. They come back to school, wear their little shirt and jacket and they have a weapon. If nothing happens, they retire in 25 years, and at the retirement party they say ‘by the way, I was one of those undercover cops.’ In other words, be a cop and let absolutely no one know about it. There are only four (or five) and they would never expose themselves unless that one day, that one tragic day occurs. And all of sudden, they pop up and they have a weapon and they take care of business. Now if that day never occurs, they go their entire career without anyone knowing that they were actually one of the secret police. I think that’s fabulous. Then you wouldn’t have armed teachers, you would have armed officers.”
