New principal settles into position

New+principal+settles+into+position
There’s a new addition to the campus administration this year; Richard Stahl has stepped into the position assistant principal, as Casey Nichols and Brad Bailey shift up in responsibility. We decided to ask him a few questions to get to know him before the year really got in motion.

Q. How long have you been a principal/involved in secondary education? What did you do before that?
A. This is my first year as an assistant principal. I have taught 6-8 math and English for four years as well as being an administrative assistant for the past three.

Q. Do you have a wife? Kids? Pets?
A. No wife. Three kids, two boys and a girl. Oldest son is in the Marine Corps, youngest son went to LSU, and my daughter is currently in college. I live with my dog Dirk, who is a yellow lab.

Q. What do you in your free time?
A. I love to play golf and go cycling. I watch all sports (especially the Mavericks), and I’m looking forward to all the Tiger sports and events we have in Texarkana.

Q. What were you involved in when you were in high school? Sports, band, drama club?
A. I was involved in marching, jazz and symphonic band in high school–great memories.

Q. Are you excited to work at Texas High? Why or why not?
A. I am ecstatic, thrilled and excited to be here at Texas High. Everyone in the school and community has made me feel so welcome that I never want to leave. Thanks to all of you.

Q. If you had to pick a favorite memory, what would it be?
A. Graduating from college and watching the Mavs win a championship.

Q. Do you have any pet peeves? If so, what?
A. Pet peeves would be lazy people and long lines. I believe anyone can succeed at anything with hard work and perseverance.

Q. What’s your favorite soft drink?
A. Sweet tea

Q. What was your favorite childhood book?
A. Dennis the Menace comic books

Q. If you had to pick a least favorite color, what would it be?
A. Red-for obvious reasons!

Q. What is your favorite movie?
A. True Grit with John Wayne.

Q. Is there anything else that you think we should know about you?
A. I love my job and I love our students, if you all need anything, please ask or let me know.
