The annual 33rd Main Street Christmas Parade begins tonight at 7 p.m. This year’s float theme is “Gingerbread Village.” The parade will be led by camels, following the floats, and then any community applications afterwards.  There is no cost, although Main Street Texarkana is seeking donations to help support the event, and to aid in the rejuvenation of the historic downtown Texarkana areas.

According to Ina McDowell, executive director of Main Street Texarkana, there will be a Downtown Neighborhood Association’s Window Wonderland contest along Broad Street, and the judges will select a winner to receive a  $1000 prize. The City of Texarkana, TX Farmer’s Market will also be hosting live music, as well as crafts and gifts from 5-7 pm at Texas Boulevard and Third Street.

The Texas High Marching Band, cheerleaders and drill team will be marching tonight, as well as other organizations in residential schools.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Christmas parade again,” senior Connor Howell said. “It’s bitter sweet because it’s also the last time I’ll get to be in it.”
