Audition packets for the 2019-2020 school year are now available outside PAC room one. All students attending Texas High next year may apply, and these auditions determine the UIL One Act Play cast and crew as well as the Advanced Theatre Performance class.

The UIL One Act Play class will produce two one act shows, one to be screened to perform at the Texas Thespian Festival, and one for the UIL OAP competition.

“My top auditioning tip would be to relax. People tell me they are scared to audition for me, but the people you audition for are rooting for you. Our purpose is to put together the best groups possible for both acting classes,” director Lisa Newton said. “What is the worst thing that could happen if you audition? You might not get into the class? If you don’t audition, you definitely won’t get into the class. You’re not going to lose anything by auditioning.”

Auditions will be held May 14 in the PAC from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and an audition workshop will be hosted by seniors who have been in UIL and ATP on May 2 that will teach students everything they need for an audition, from picking a monologue to compiling an acting resume. Interested students can register for time slots on the callboard in the hallway.
