UPDATE. Oct. 2, 1:22 p.m.

It has been 12 long days since crossing guard Ron Ferguson was struck while on the job Sept. 21. Furgeson has been in recovery at the St. Michael Hospital and is gradually improving.

“He’s improving everyday,” wife Bonnie Ferguson said. “He tries to talk but sometimes we can’t understand him. He’s a little too soft spoken. His eyes are almost open all the way. He does know who I am which was exciting.”
