The girls golf team traveled to Austin, Texas, on April 27 and 28 to compete for the state championship in the 5A division. The team competed at the Lost Pines Resort for their third time in the state finals and finished in sixth place with a score of 685 over the two days. The girls finished their first round with a score of 336, 39 strokes back behind leading school Humble Kingwood Park. It was a hole that was hard for the Tigers to come out of.

“After the first day, I was just frustrated with myself and wanted to do better,” Parsons said. “We knew we were way out of it a good ways going into the second day so we just wanted to go out [and] play our best. We had nothing to lose. Once after the second round was over, we were all up in our feelings.”

Despite the loss, the Tigers have experienced some positives at Austin.

“I got to play at a super pretty course and see my awesome teammates finish their last ever of high school golf,” sophomore Kasey Kane said. “It was pretty bittersweet there.”

As their season has come to a final conclusion, the girls are keeping their heads high, satisfied of what they accomplished.
“We having nothing to be ashamed of. We made it to the state tournament,” Parsons said. “That was the main goal going into the season. We wanted to do better than what we did, but we made it there. I’m just grateful to play with these girls, but sad that it’s over.”
