Lady Tigers suffer 3-2 set defeat to the Longview Lady Lobos

The Lady Tigers fought long and hard, only were defeated against Longview’s Lady Lobos on Sept. 22 at the Tiger Center with a score of 3-2.

The Lady Tigers blew through the first set, with senior Chealsea Slider serving multiple times. Communication was vivid on the court as the passes and set ups kept their rhythm. The Lady Tigers won the set 25-12.

 “We started out playing really good,” Slider said. “We talked a lot.”

The second set started out a little shaky when the Lady Lobos got ahead 3-1. Towards the middle of the set, the Lady Tigers came back to tie with the Lady Lobos 10-10. Continuing back and forth, the Lady Tigers prevailed winning the set 31-29.

“If we play like we did in the first two games, I think our next game will go really well,” junior Skylar Huddleston said.

The third set did not go so smoothly for the Lady Tigers. There was a constant battle for the top slot at the beginning of the set. Towards the middle of the set, the Lady Lobos got ahead 16-8. The Lady Tigers fought a good fight but lost the set 25-11.

“We went downhill because we lost focus,” Huddleston said.

The Lady Tigers met the same demise in the fourth set. They were tied at the beginning and got ahead 7-5. Although, towards the middle of the set, the Lady Tigers started trailing behind by four points. Communication was dwindling on the court.

With the first to 15 winning the set, the Lady Tigers gave it their all in the fifth set. They were tied in the beginning and back and forth in the middle. The ending score being 15-12, Lobos.

“The fifth game, we started out bad, and we finished bad,” junior Skylar Huddleston said.

The Lady Tigers lost the game 2-3.

“I think we will get in practice on Thursday and work our butts off so we can get a win Friday,” senior Chelsea Slider said about her expectations for their next game.
