Lady Tigers triumph over Lady Pirates

The Lady Tigers defeated the Pine Tree Lady Pirates 41-33 on Feb. 2 in the Tiger Center.

The game started off well with for the Lady Tigers by winning the tip. However, the Lady Pirates quickly scored two points. The Lady Tigers turned around and tied the game 4-4 immediately following. After this turn-around, the Lady Tigers kept ahead for the rest of the period, with the score at the end being 8-7 Lady Tigers.

The Lady Pirates struggled to keep up during the second period but couldn’t take the lead.  The Lady Tigers stayed ahead the entire second period. However, the Lady Tigers weren’t happy with the game. “We just need to start working harder,” senior Jessica Emerson said. “It’s the end of the season and so we’re all really tired.”

The third period was a breeze for the Lady Tigers. They kept the lead all the way through the third period. “We shot a lot of three pointers and we hustled for the ball,” freshman Kaitlyn Cross said.

The period was no different for the rest of the game. The Lady Tigers stayed ahead and came out the win of 41-33. They are hopeful for the next games to come. “We have to win our next two games if we want to go to playoffs,” Emerson said.“Longview and Marshall are really competitive teams so if we want to beat them we have to start working harder and trying harder in practice.”
