The varsity tennis team swept their first tournament of the fall season. The team won its first match 16-3 on Aug. 18-19 at Midlothian High School. They played Lubbock Monterey High School in the second match of the season, winning 13-6. In the final match was against Mansfield Lake Ridge High School, and the Tigers were able to take home the trophy by winning 16 of their 19 matches for a victory.

“We all played pretty well,” sophomore Jebin Justin said. “ We crushed the first and last teams pretty badly and were only challenged slightly by the second team. I think we will be very competitive all year.”

Only one senior is left on the team, but with an arsenal of young players, the team hopes to bring a lot of energy to every tournament.

“I think we will be pretty good this year,” sophomore Walker Trippe said. “ We are pretty young and only have one senior, but I think it will be a great season.”

The tennis team faces Pine Tree at home on Tuesday and hopes to keep its momentum and continue the winning streak.
