Bulldogs dominate Tigers

The boys’ varsity soccer team were held scoreless in a 3-0 loss against Chapel Hill on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

This game was a quick turnaround for the Tigers. Many players were recovering from previous exhaustion from their last few tournament games and felt limited in their abilities.

“We were exhausted from the last 5 games, so we didn’t have too much energy toward the end,” sophomore Daniel Garcia said. “Our team has been doing a lot this year, and we’ve been getting better.”

Going in with the notion of having won previous games against Chapel Hill proved to be fatal for the game.

“I learned that you must have a different mindset to enter each game because we went into the game confident until we started losing,” Garcia said. “We have to be thinking differently to see how we could win in the future.”

Despite their loss, the Tigers are keeping their heads up and continue to practice relentlessly as district play quickly approaches.

“We have a good team, and we are capable of scoring goals,” sophomore Alejandro Simon said.  “If we could improve, we could work on going out onto the field and giving it our all. The team is  motivating each other and not giving up.”

The boys’ soccer team next game in Texarkana is against the Pleasant Grove Hawks at Hawk Stadium on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m.
