The boys golf team kicked off their spring season debut in Rockwall at Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club on Feb. 9-10.

The weather tested each player in the tournament. The first day consisted of 30 mph gusts of wind that influenced every shot that was hit. Senior Matt Prieskorn led the team with a 76 followed by freshmen Carter Maneth with an 86. Freshmen Camden Robertson came in with a 90, while junior Nick Kane finished with a 101 and senior Jaxson Allen ended with a 106.

The second day’s conditions were less ideal than the first. With nearly freezing temperatures, a light rain and 35 mph winds, the day was shortened to just nine holes. Prieskorn finished with a final score of 118 and placed 2nd in the tournament individually. Maneth had a total of 127, Robertson with a 131, Kane 143 and Allen with a 149.

The Tigers finished ninth place in the tournament out of 21 teams. They continue their season in Lindale, Texas on Feb. 23-24.

“The conditions this weekend were the worst I have ever played in,” Maneth said. “I think we have a lot to improve on but have a good chance to make it to regionals.”
