Volleyball player of the week

Junior Briana Murphy was selected as the volleyball player of the week.

Q: How often do you train?
A: I train everyday and all week. Then I have to attend some camps in the summertime, so, I’m always training.

Q: What do you do to prepare for a game?
A: I listen to the “All I do is Win Remix” like five times, then I listen to “Not Afraid” by Eminem. I listen to these two particular songs because it gets in my system that all I do is win, so I will try and do everything that I can to try and help my team win.
I don’t care how big, tall, how hard you can hit, or how high you can jump, I’m still going to hit over you or block your ball. I say this phrase to try and build my confidence up. I always pray with the team and then personally. Then I get hyped with the team. Those moments are special and I will never forget it.

Q: What is the best thing about volleyball?
A: The best thing about volleyball is being able to take my frustrations out on the ball. Also, being a part of this team helps. I wouldn’t want to be a part of another team. We all like each other, and we are always being goofy. That makes volleyball the best.

Q: Why did you decide to play?

A: I decided to play because I was trying to live up to my cousin. She is a defensive specialist. Originally, I was only going to play basketball, but she played everything, and I wanted to be like her and play. Apparently, I’m pretty good at it.

Q: How does it feel to be player of the week?
A: It’s bittersweet because I am happy to be player of the week, but I know that I could do better than what I have been doing. Since I have become injured I can’t play, so I can’t improve until I heal. Overall, I’m glad that I made player of the week, and when I heal, in the words of Coach Hardy, “It is going to be on!”
