While huge trades don’t happen in the NFL nearly as much as in other sports, there is one point during each season where big things can, and do, happen; the NFL trade deadline. With the NFL trade deadline coming up, one could only expect some pretty interesting transactions to occur. However, some moves have already been made.

Jimmy Garoppolo Traded To the San Francisco 49ers:

Jimmy Garoppolo, the former backup quarterback for the infamous Tom Brady, was traded to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2018 second-round draft pick.

Garoppolo has been the starting quarterback for two games with the New England Patriots due to the absence of Tom Brady. During those two starts, Garoppolo has put up some impressive numbers. Garoppolo went 2-0 with five touchdowns and zero interceptions for 690 yards all while completing 67 percent of his passes.

While one could argue that his success is a result of the good supporting cast that is the New England Patriots, Garoppolo still looks promising and will give 49ers fans something to look forward to. Plus, Garoppolo will get the opportunity to be the main man rather than a backup who is overshadowed by one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game: Tom Brady.

Jay Ajayi Traded To the Philadelphia Eagles:

Jay Ajayi was the starting running back for the Miami Dolphins. Last year was his second season in which he ran 260 times in 15 games for 1,272 yards and eight touchdowns including three 200-yard games and a Pro Bowl appearance.

However, this season has been quite the opposite. Ajayi and the Miami Dolphins’ offense has been struggling ever since the season-ending injury sustained by their starting quarterback, Ryan Tannehill.

While questions loom over whether or not Ajayi is still as good as he looked last year, Ajayi is going to a 7-1 Eagles team who is looking promising

Seattle Seahawks defeat the Houston Texans in a Thriller:

While this isn’t related to to the trade deadline, it was the next big thing that happened this week.

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Houston Texans, 41-38, in an epic showdown. The Seahawks scored a touchdown with 26 seconds left in the fourth quarter which iced the game and secured a Seattle victory.

The Texans, led by the outstanding rookie sensation, Deshaun Watson, put up a good fight. The two teams were neck-and-neck for the entire game. The main difference was that Seattle scored three more points (a field goal) in the third quarter which ended up being a vital three points in the end.

Both teams are seen as legitimate playoff contenders and will be looking to improve throughout the rest of the season. Who knows, maybe the two teams will meet up again in the Super Bowl?
