In accordance with tradition, fans of pop star and global icon Taylor Swift have been meticulously trying to figure out her next move. As the record-breaking Eras Tour came to a close on Dec. 8, 2024, many fans were even disappointed that Swift didn’t end her concert, which had been running for almost two years, with an announcement of the much-anticipated “Reputation: Taylor’s Version.” Little did fans know that Swift has far more projects up her sleeve than meets the eye.
Reclaiming Her Masters

Since her labeling company sold the rights to Swift’s first six studio albums in June 2019, she has been on a quest to rerecord them and regain control of her music. Marking each recording with the tag “Taylor’s Version” to indicate that she owns the publishing rights, Swift has made substantial strides in her mission, having already released four rerecordings of her original albums. According to the timeline, fans have speculated that the rerecorded versions of “Reputation” and “Taylor Swift” (her debut album) are next.
However, at the turn of the summer, Swift surprised fans by not only addressing the “Reputation” rumors but also stating that the album’s rerecording will never come to fruition. While many were disappointed by this, the dead-end prospect of “Reputation: Taylor’s Version” was quickly overshadowed by the occasion of Swift’s address; she officially owned the masters to all of her songs, original and rerecorded.
As Swift explains on her website, she used the revenue from The Eras Tour to repurchase everything she lost six years ago. Now, she has full autonomy over everything that has been released under her name. This includes her original songs, music videos, artwork and photos.
“To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it,” Swift said. “The passionate support [my fans] showed those albums and the success story [they] turned The Eras Tour into is why I was able to buy back my music.”
A New Era

Upon the release of this news, fans have speculated about what Swift will do now that the “Taylor’s Version” era is officially over.
Being the mastermind that she is, Swift seems to have it all figured out. In fact, on Aug. 11, a countdown appeared on her website scheduled to end at 12:12 a.m. the following day, Aug. 12. Was it a coincidence that Swift strongly associated this countdown with the number twelve?
Of course not.
As the clock ticked towards the end of the countdown, millions of people readied themselves for Swift’s next move, which ended up being an announcement of her twelfth studio album, titled “The Life of a Showgirl.”
The life of a showgirl, indeed. Swift then, accompanied by her boyfriend Travis Kelce on the Aug. 13 episode of the “New Heights” podcast, explained that she wrote this album completely during the tour.
“It was something that I was working on while I was in Europe on The Eras Tour,” Swift said. “I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.”
This feat is impressive to say the least. During the time period she refers to, Swift was not only actively performing in a show that lasted 3.5 hours — far longer than any typical concert — she was also releasing yet another album that she had written during the course of The Eras Tour. This album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” was then incorporated into the show and represented a beloved symbol of her resilience and work ethic.
And now, fans find out that she was also writing “The Life of a Showgirl” on top of that. Where does it end?
Apparently, it doesn’t. Amidst reclaiming her masters, announcing a brand new album and making a surprise visit on a treasured football podcast, Swift answered “yes” to Travis Kelce’s marriage proposal.
Taylor Alison Swift-Kelce?

On Tuesday, Aug. 26, Swift posted her gorgeous engagement photos with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Since this viral moment, fans have gone ballistic on social media, some even calling it a “royal event,” in reference to the huge following that the two individuals have in their respective fields. Based on the “New Heights” episode featuring Swift, anyone can confirm that she and Kelce are deeply in love.
From Swift calling him a “human exclamation point” to Kelce saying that he is “the luckiest man in the world,” the couple seems ready to tackle any future challenges, whether that’s on the field, on the stage or in the kitchen baking sourdough bread.
As the world anxiously awaits the release of “The Life of a Showgirl,” Taylor Swift is no doubt 10 steps ahead of everyone in her meticulous planning for the distant future.
What’s next for the world’s favorite showgirl? Another tour? A wedding? A new cat? Moving into the next era has never been so “Fearless.”
