As the cafeteria doors unlock and open, most students rush to the hectic lunch lines, but some feel eager to browse the elaborate displays showcasing Texas High’s wide variety of organizations and extracurriculars.
From Sept. 8, 2025 to Sept. 12, 2025, Texas High hosted its annual Club Drive week in the Dan Haskins Student Center. Many of the school’s clubs and organizations create boards and posters to display throughout the week, ultimately grabbing the attention of prospective members around campus. While at their scheduled lunch period, students view the displays and learn more about what opportunities clubs have to offer.
“When I walked into the cafeteria, I saw all of the boards and nice displays, so I went up and looked at them and really learned a lot,” sophomore Kambren Zaliski said. “I never knew we had so many clubs available. It got me really interested in joining one.”
For many students, Club Drive serves as a gateway for them to find their place within the school. With countless organizations at Texas High, everyone can find an organization that suits their interests.
“I joined Science Club three years ago after a friend asked me to come look at the Club Drive boards with them during lunch,” senior Lillie Orgeron said. “I’ve had lots of fun with it. I really enjoy going to the elementary schools and teaching younger kids about the complexities of science.”
None of this would be possible without Texas High’s excellent leadership. Club officers and sponsors work together to create and organize all of the work and opportunities available, including community service.
“We really try to offer a safe space [for] students through community service and exploration of science,” Science Club sponsor Jessica Sharp said. “We try to go to different elementaries, so [members] can help foster an understanding of the scientific processes that they’re learning [to] elementary level [students].”
