Bright pink filled the stadium as thousands of youth gathered for the annual Fields of Faith on Oct. 1, 2025 at Hawk Stadium. This event featured student speakers, testimonies and a keynote speaker, all for the purpose of sharing Christianity in the Texarkana area.
Students from all over Texarkana participated, including those from Texas High School. Attendance totaled around 5,000 people. Of that number, many chose to dedicate their lives to their religion, leaving as transformed individuals.
“[I attended] because this is where I found God,” sophomore Henry Jefferies said. “I feel like more people can do that [here], and it makes everyone’s life better.”
One of the primary objectives of this program is to encourage believers to invite their friends and family to hear the transformative message of the Gospel. This challenges believers to continue to share hope and encouragement throughout their communities.
“I have a lot of people that have been on my mind to pray for lately,” freshman Kenna Ferguson said. “I want to encourage them and praise [in place] for them.”
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) sponsors the Fields of Faith program and partners with many local businesses. Their mission urges students to read the Bible daily and immerse themselves deeper in their faith.
“I [went] because I really want to learn more about God,” junior Gavin Osborne said. “I do believe [Fields of Faith is] important because people can learn about God and grow in their faith.”
Despite differences in students’ backgrounds, coming together for this event allows them to unite in their shared faith.
“I’ve probably [come] the last three or four years, and every time there are powerful testimonies, [and] I love worshiping with youth from Texarkana,” sophomore Horatio Foster said. “The worship team is always great; everyone standing up definitely sets that fire under you.”
This event not only provides an opportunity for togetherness through worship, but also allows them to see how some of our communities change towards Christ.
“I think it’s important to come to Fields of Faith; just being able to worship God with [a] community and seeing that movement is just a great thing,” Foster said. “Seeing testimonies from people your age is really powerful.”
As the number of attendees increases year by year, the fellowship of students continues to grow, bringing hope to the future growth of Christianity throughout Texarkana.
“My hopes for this event in the future are that it gets big enough to where it’s all around the world,” Osborne said. “I think [the energy will grow even] stronger and more powerful than it ever has been.”
