When Stephen Teague teaches his classes, students happily participate, raising their hands and engaging in class lectures. In this classroom, Teague covers the full scope of government and economics, preparing his students for their future endeavors. He connects teaching about historical events to current issues.
Teague’s dedication and deep investment in his students’ growth stand out as notable qualities of his teaching style. Watching his students walk across the stage at graduation holds substantial value for him, reminding him why he does what he does.
“I enjoy helping these kids learn,” Teague said. “I want to see the new generation [rise and take action]. I teach because of all of these things.”
For ten out of his 15 years of teaching, Teague will always be a loyal, dedicated employee at the Texas High School campus. Teague finds interest in helping students grow and teaching his students about government, economics, social studies, and playing the guitar.
“I play in a rock band. I started playing] guitar when I was in the fifth grade. I started playing guitar because of Ace Frehley.” Teague said. “From then on, I took guitar lessons every week, and now I teach these kids about something I love.”
Teague enjoys playing the guitar and teaching several of his students to play this timeless instrument. In his enrichment classes, you can hear the acoustic guitar being played and the strings being strummed.
Teague’s dedication to teaching continues to flourish year after year, and he says he will continue engaging in the education and shaping of young minds. He wants to finish his career here at Texas High.
His innovative teaching methods, dedication, and genuine care for each of his students create an exceptional learning experience for everyone who takes his class.
“When I moved to Texarkana, I wanted to teach at the best school, and I believe that Texas High School was and is that school.”
