Lady Tigers trounce Whitehouse

On Tuesday Feb. 17, the Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Wildcats of Whitehouse, 65-52, clinching the bi-district championship and entering their second round of playoffs.

“We went in knowing how important the game was and we did the best we could,” senior Laken Edwards said. “It was a very important game, and we went in confident but focused on our goal.”

With practice and determination, the Lady Tigers believe that they will go deep into playoff play if everyone plays their roles on and off the court.

“We’ve been working extremely hard,” freshman Blaire Bledsoe said. “It’s my first year, and it’s really exciting, but also nerve-wracking. I just want us to work hard, go as far as we can, and encourage each other.”

The Lady Tigers will face the Mansfield Lake Ridge Lady Eagles in the area championship Feb. 19 at Tyler Junior college.

“Winning these big games has made us realize what we are really capable of,” sophomore Grace Brooks said. “We can go out there and play like a potential state winning team.”
