Lady Tigers fall to Alba-Golden

The Lady Tigers put up a good fight against the Alba-Golden Lady Panthers, only to end up being defeated in the fourth quarter on Nov. 24 at the Tiger Center.

“Even though we lost, we still have a lot of stuff we can improve on,” sophomore Blaire Bledsoe said.

The Lady Tigers started the game off well by winning the tip. The Lady Tigers easily got ahead of the Lady Panthers. The Lady Tigers stayed ahead of the Lady Panthers the entire period  with the score at the end of the period being 16-15 Texas.

“We need to learn how to pass the ball to get the ball down the court instead of dribbling all the time,” junior Grace Brooks said.

The second period was fairly uneventful for the Lady Tigers. They kept ahead of the Lady Panthers with ease. The Lady Panthers seemed to not be able to catch up to the Lady Tigers. The score at the end of the second period was 33-30 Texas.

“We have a good team,” Bledsoe said. “Everyone on the team contributes.”

The Lady Tigers kept up the good fight in the third period. The Lady Tigers easily scored six unanswered points in the beginning of the period. Toward the end of the of the period, however, the Lady Panthers fought hard and ended up tying the game 48-48.

In the fourth period, the Lady Panthers came out hard. The Lady Panthers got ahead 61-51 early in the period. The Lady Panthers took the Lady Tigers by surprise. The Lady Panthers started the period off stronger than the Lady Tigers and took the lead. The Lady Tigers fought hard to gain three points but they weren’t able to catch up to the Lady Panthers.

The final score was 75-65 Alba-Golden. The Lady Tigers weren’t too worried about the loss though. They were more focused on getting ready for more important games in the future.
“This game wasn’t about beating someone by 20 [points],” Brooks said. “It’s about playoff games and getting ready for that.”
