Hungry for more

Last installment of the Hunger Games leaves fans heartbroken

Story by Laurel Wakefield, staff writer

Many “Hunger Games” fanatics walked out the theater heartbroken after watching the final installment of the four year movie series. “Mockingjay – Part 2” was released Nov. 18.

Fans who had read the books tried to prepare themselves for the plot they knew was coming, but were still just as distraught as those who hadn’t when the known heartbreaking scenes arrived. There were scenes that provided a rollercoaster of emotions; if you cried multiple times, know you’re not alone. As soon as one scene was over, there was another heartbreaking moment.

When it came to following the book, the movie was almost as perfect as it could be. Smaller scenes were left out to conserve time, but the rest of the book was exact to almost every detail. For those who have been fans of Suzanne Collins’ book series, this was a pleasant surprise; for others, it only enhanced the quality of the film.

The film score was great. It included the use of  “The Hanging Tree” which became popular after “Mockingjay – Part 1” was released last year. James Newton Howard composed a stunning soundtrack for the movie that went perfectly with the mood.

The special effects were also great. The film featured incredibly realistic mutts that were sent through the Capitol. You could hardly tell they weren’t actually there in the movie. It really contributed to the fear factor of the plot.

The film is just over 2 hours long, but it was so suspenseful that it felt shorter than it really was. The filmmakers did a great job of keeping the viewers interested to the point where they were disappointed when it was over. It was a fantastic conclusion to this series.

If you’re looking for a suspenseful, exciting movie, “Mockingjay – Part 2” is perfect for you. With the perfect amount of twists and turns, it keeps viewers constantly on the edge of their seats. Get a group of friends together on a weekend and go out and see this spectacular film.
