A massacre in Mexico

Between Sonora and Chihuahua, two neighboring Mexican states, three cars carrying 14 children and their mothers were attacked. Out of the 14, nine were killed, including the mothers. Officials say members of a criminal group or a possible cartel are responsible.

Annual event to honor veterans

Veterans and the public are invited to the Texarkana Gazette’s 20th annual Salute to Veterans to honor the men and women who have previously or are currently of the armed forces.  Live entertainment will be provided and a representative of Texarkana Funeral Home will provide information about services for veterans.

Nearly $100,000 in grants given by local organization

The Texarkana Area Community Foundation gave to over 50 organizations a grand total of $92,152 at its annual grant reception Tuesday evening. The event took place at the Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council, where each organization was granted anywhere between $500 and $3,000 in grants.
