The Texarkana Texas Police Department is investigating a fatal car crash that occurred at 2:15 this morning in the 1900 block of St. Michael Drive. Houston Hart, a 17-year-old resident of Texarkana, Texas, and also an upcoming senior at Texas High has been identified as the deceased driver.

After the report of a major car crash, officers were dispatched to the scene. The 2013 Smart Car was traveling west on St. Michael drive near Summerhill Rd. when the vehicle rolled over, according to investigators.

The passenger in the car, 18-year-old Brenna McCarley, said Hart realized he was about to miss an exit so he made a sharp right turn. According to investigators, Hart was driving too fast to have been able to make the turn which caused the vehicle to skid, collide with the curb and flip over.

Hart, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. His injuries caused his death at the scene. The passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, has acquired no life threatening injuries and is currently at a local hospital.
