Spreading the word

Story by Greylyn Tidwell, staff writer

Revolutionary Prayer Movement (RPM) and Serving Others with Unconditional Love (SOUL) merged late last year to make one organization.

This year they have reconstructed the group with new ideas and hope that these changes will make this year better than before. They decided to keep the name SOUL and move forward together under one common goal, to tell people about the love of Jesus.

“It’s really just diving into the word at school,” junior Brooklynn Freeman said. “It’s starting to move more because we actually know about it now and we are going to go out and tell everyone else about it.”

The club participated in club night and plan on handing out flyers for “See You at The Pole.” They have also remade the SOUL’s social media too, so they can reach out to this generation on platforms they are comfortable with.

SOUL meets directly after school every Monday and Thursday in physics teacher Seth Schirmer’s classroom. They start every meeting with a prayer, and then begin worship and a message.

SOUL now has a larger leadership team to throw around new ideas for meetings and events. With meetings becoming more planned than spontaneous, everything is flowing better for the students.

“We have a better structure [this year],”  senior Jonathan McDonald said. “Our main goal for the student body is just to be there for them and give them an atmosphere of love.”
