TigerSharks win meet in Keller, approach district

The Tigersharks traveled to Keller on Jan. 14 to participate in a double dual meet against Keller, Fossil Ridge High School and Keller Timber Creek. Both the men’s and women’s sides emerged victorious; the men over all other schools, and the women over Fossil Ridge.

Top three finishes include freshman Zack Norton, 100 Back (second); sophomores Zach Baker (50 Free – second), Chris Radomski (100 Fly – second, 500 Free – third), Brennan Hile (100 fly – third), Madeleine Pellegrin (100 Breast – first), and Josh Klein (100 breast – second).

Upperclassmen ranking top three in the meet were juniors Amy McCoy (200 Free – second), Nick Sehy (200 Free – third, 500 Free – second), Zack Derrick (200 IM – second), Rusty Anglin (100 Back – third).

The seniors were the largest dominating class, with 12 top three wins combined on the men’s and women’s sides, including Matt Cox (200 Free – second, 500 Free – first), Chelsea Albright (200 IM – second, 100 Fly – first), Kristian Lewis (50 Free – third, 100 Free – first), Travis Whitfield (50 Free – third), Elizabeth Cook (100 Fly – second, 100 Back – first), Lauren Caswell (100 free – first), Erubiel Basurto-Ruiz (100 Free – second), Collin Hall (100 breast – first).

Relay top-three wins on the women’s side were in the 200 Medley, 200 Free, and 400 Free. In the Medley, the women placed: second – Cook, Pellegrin, Albright, Caswell; third – Ashton Latham (10), Kyndal Goodwin (12), Brenna Moore (9), Autumn Sehy (11). In the 200 Free Relay, the Lady Tigersharks came in second- A. Sehy, Lewis, Brittany Shipp (11), McCoy; and third – Moore, Pellegrin, Angela Derrick (10), Goodwin. The 400 Free Relay swims were second – McCoy, Albright, Lewis, Cook; and third – Latham, Shipp, A. Derrick, Caswell.

The men’s team smoked the relays, with first places in two out of the three races. In the Medley, the men scored second – John David Goins (11), Hall, Radomski, Baker. In the 200 Free Relay, the A relay of Cox, Hall, Baker, Sehy scored first; and Whitfield, Hile, Davis Payne (11), Basurto-Ruiz scored third. In the 400 Free Relay, the Tigersharks swam for first – Cox, N. Sehy, Whitfield, Basurto-Ruiz; and third – Goins, Anglin, Z. Derrick, Stevy Flowers (12).

Texas High diving had a successful meet as well. Ann Marie Hilborn (11) scored second, and the boys’ side made some impressive scores, sweeping second-fifth. Colby Fore (11) was second, Walker Lambert (10) was third, Austin Roberts (10) fourth, Calvin Lorens (9) fifth.

Tigershark swimming and diving will be competing at home for the district meet on Saturday at the Pinkerton Center at Texarkana College. Admission is free.
