Super Bowl LVII predictions

Story by Kailyn Williams, Sports Editor

With Super Bowl Sunday approaching quickly, the world of the NFL (National Football League) is scrambling to figure out which of the last four teams standing will be competing for the championship.

The Philadelphia Eagles dominated the New York Giants 38-7 Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, along with the Kansas City Chiefs slipping past the Jacksonville Jaguars in a one score game 27-20.

In a much anticipated rematch game, the Cincinnati Bengals faced the Buffalo Bills Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023. Damar Hamlin made an appearance at the game, his first outing to a game since his accident, and cheered his team on from a suite. The Bengals ultimately prevailed in the matchup, winning 27-10.

The San Francisco 49ers took on the Dallas Cowboys Sunday following the Bengals vs. Bills game. This year, in fact, was not the Cowboy’s year, and the 49ers took a one score victory 19-12.

“The Cowboys just had a bad game,” avid Cowboys fan Dawn Williams said. “They’ll be back next year though, that will be their year for sure!”

So, the 49ers will take on the Eagles in the NFC title game at Lincoln Financial Stadium in Philadelphia Sunday, Jan. 29 at 3:00 p.m., and the Bengals and Chiefs game will follow for the AFC championship at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City at 6:30 p.m.

In anticipation for the big game, making bets and taking picks become a big part of the Super Bowl culture- second to the commercials of course.

“I always put bets on football games,” senior CJ Brown said. “Me and all my friends just make it into a competition, it makes watching the games more fun.”
