Fun Facts: High school football

Even though high school football season is long over, we can still revel in the glory of some of the greatest (and strangest) records in the world of high school football.

  • De La Salle High School had an incredible 151 game-winning streak.
  • Glascock County High School lost a miserable 82 games in a row.
  • There are two players that hold the record for rushing yards in a game. Paul McCoy of Matewan High School rushed for an astounding 658 yards, which is a record according to the official books. Many historians believe the record is actually held by John Giannantonio of Netcong High School when he rushed for 739 yards.
  • Smith Center High School scored a record 72 points in the first quarter. The team went on to have a 9-0 record and never allowed a point.
  • Kendric Smith of Hughes High School scored a record nine touchdowns… and his team still lost.
