UIL team places second at North Lamar practice meet

The Tiger UIL Academic team placed second overall at a practice meet in at North Lamar High School in Paris on Jan. 13-14.

Individual and team placements were as follows:

Current Events: Clayten Simpson-fifth place. Third place team: Clayten Simpson, Bryan Berry, Dylan Buchanan, Celeste Henderson, Alexis Williams.

Editorial Writing: Emily Hoover-first place; Taylor Potter-second place; Brianna Sellers-fourth place.

Feature Writing: Carlye Hudspeth-first place; Taylor Potter-second place; Sydney Schoen-third place.

Headline Writing: Emily Hoover-first place; Morgan Williams-fifth place.

News Writing: Taylor Potter-second place; Carlye Hudspeth-fourth place; Sydney Schoen-fifth place; Morgan Williams-sixth place.

First place journalism team: Emily Hoover, Taylor Potter, Carlye Hudspeth, Brianna Sellers, Morgan Williams, Sydney Schoen.

L-D Debate: Paige Oliver-first place.

Literary Criticism: Emily Hoover-first place; Heather Lanier-fourth place. Second place team: Emily Hoover, Heather Lanier, Victor Wedding, Alex Walker, Jessi Chapman.

Mathematics: Gabby Bermea-fifth place (11th grade).

Number Sense: Alex McBay-third place (9th grade).

Science: Jonathan Luna-fourth place (12th grade), fifth place (overall).

Social Studies: Heather Lanier-sixth place.
