Texas High and Arkansas High put aside their rivalry tonight in a pre-game ceremony to honor the family of police officer Jason Sprague who was killed in the line of duty this summer.

Athletic director Barry Norton and mayor Bob Bruggeman escorted Stephanie Sprague and her family to center field where Arkansas High head coach Todd Ledford presented Sprague with a commemorative game ball.

“It’s wonderful to know that the community can come together. Even though we have a rivalry, we can come together to honor those who protect and serve us and remind us of what we have together as a community,” Sprague said. “I’m determined to make positives out of negatives, and we are also determined to make sure Caden knows how supportive our community has been.”
