Upcoming THS pageant

Story by Caroline May, staff writer

This year’s Miss THS Pageant will be held on Mar. 8 at the Sullivan Performing Arts Center. It is open to Texas High students in 11th and 12th grade. There will be an informational meeting in the PAC on Feb. 11 from 4-5 pm for those wanting to participate. The winner of the pageant will be awarded a $500 scholarship.

Principal Brad Bailey is excited to see what this year’s Miss THS pageant has in store.

“I expect this pageant will be one of our best one’s yet,” Bailey said. “We are looking forward to seeing our contestants on stage and watching them compete to see who will be the next Miss THS. I encourage everyone to come out, and see one of the best pageants in the state.”

The original date of Feb. 1 has been pushed back in order to put on a more professional show.

“We moved the pageant to give us more time to prepare, so we can deliver a high quality production,” Bailey said. “Our theme this year will be ‘Dream Girls,’ which should be a lot of fun.  The former Miss Texas, Stacy James Mayo, will be coordinating the event, along with Tigervision and the Tiger Theater Department.  We will have our ‘little princesses’ perform on stage again this year, which will be comprised of elementary students from the TISD campuses. Those who come to the pageant will see an incredible cast of talent with tremendous energy.”
