Girls vie for Miss THS title

The Miss THS pageant has been a tradition at Texas High for 35 years. This year contestants ranging from freshmen to seniors are competing for the title.

“I used to do pageants when I was little,” junior Morgan Dunn said. “I think that the Miss THS pageant will be really fun and a great opportunity even if I don’t win.”

Using her voice as her talent, Dunn has been singing since she was very young.

“I think the most exciting part of the pageant will be the talent competition,” Dunn said. “I’ve been singing since I was 11 and I’m definitely ready to sing at the pageant.”

Senior Ashton Latham is also looking forward to the talent portion of the competition.

“I’m doing a jazz dance to Pretty Young Thing by Michael Jackson,” Latham said. “I wanted to dance to a song that everyone, no matter how old they are, will know who sings it.”

To senior Aimee Tran, the most nervewracking part of the pageant will be the onstage question.

“If you get into the top five, you have to answer a question in front of the audience,” Tran said. “It’s going to be difficult because of the fact that everyone will be watching.”

The pageant will be held on Saturday, March 8th in the Sullivan Performing Arts Center. It will start at 7 p.m. and tickets will be will be sold at the door for $5
