70 years of the annual Four States Fair

Sept. 13 marks 70th annual Four States Fair Parade

Story by Katherine Doan, staff writer

Seventy years of people screaming during rides, eating funnel cakes and enjoying the bright lights at night. The Four States Fair and Rodeo opens today for it’s 70th anniversary. Already set up at the fairgrounds, students have only nine days to get their fill of fun, fried food and carnies before they pack up and leave on Sept. 21.

Along with the fair itself, the 70th annual Four States Fair Parade is this Saturday at 10 a.m. in downtown Texarkana. Local schools, reigning pageant queens, and community groups all alike will be present for this grand kick off to the week.

Unlimited admission and rides for the duration of the fair can be purchased for $65, or singular admission tickets can be purchased for $15 at the gate.

This year the fair boasts many attractions, such as the Demolition Derby on September 13th at 7:30 p.m., and the Ride Em Cowboy Rodeo on Sept. 15-18 from 4-6 p.m. Visitors can also see Jerrod Neimann live in concert on Sept. 12.

Students can enjoy a grand ole time for the next week until Sept. 21.
