UPDATED- Breaking news: school delayed in fear of snow

The district has deemed Wednesday morning hazardous due to inclement weather. School will start at 10:30 a.m. again and class will begin at second period.

“With the current forecast showing more ice accumulation and possible snow during the late night/early morning hours, Texarkana ISD will delay the start of school for Wednesday, February 25,” Tina Veal-Gooch, Executive Director of Public Relations for TISD, said.

Bus riders will be picked up at 9:30 a.m. All elementary, middle school and OPTIONS High School students will report to campus at 10 a.m.

“We will be out on the roads early in the morning to determine any ‘next steps,’ but our hope is that this next round of wintry weather will pass us by and students, although reporting late, will have school for the remainder of the day,” Veal-Gooch said.

THURSDAY- Texarkana ISD cancels school consecutively in response to freezing temperatures. School will begin as usual on Friday at 8:30 a.m.

“With the expected refreezing of area roads, temperatures remaining below freezing during the night/early morning,” Veal-Gooch said. “Out of caution for our Tiger Family, TISD is canceling school for Thursday, February 26.”
