Yesterday afternoon, a non-TISD student was arrested and escorted off of campus after being found that he was carrying a firearm.
The man was seen by a construction worker on campus who immediately informed authorities and police, according to TISD worker Tina Veal Gooch.
Afterwards, TISD police involved the student’s probation officer. The student is not enrolled in TISD, nor has he been identified.
“We were immediately notified and detained the young man and secured the campus,” Texas High Principal Brad Bailey said. “He was arrested and transported to local enforcement facilities. I want to assure you that the safety of our students, staff, and parents are a priority and we will continue to ensure everyone’s safety as we enter the new school year.”
