Tigers should come away with a win

The last home game for the seniors will definitely be one to remember.

For senior night, the Tigers will be going against the Marshall High School Mavericks (1-7), who got their first win last week against the Pine Tree Pirates. The game will start at 7:30 at Grim Stadium.

I can say without a doubt that the Tigers will pull out a win this week. Texas High, while they were unsuccessful in the game against Mt. Pleasant, discovered a new talent in junior quarterback Dakota Hunter. Hunter, who had seen only a small amount of playing time previously, came in late during the first half. Hunter gave the offense a look that fans have wanted to see all season. If Hunter is put in charge of the passing game, our offense could seriously do some damage.

The running game last week was still superb. Junior running back Treveon Walker was coming off an injury, so his snaps were limited. Most of the workload was put on sophomore Javon Thomas. Thomas really delivered and was able to break off some good runs in the late effort.

The defense is still solid. The pass coverage could use a tune up, but other than that, they’re golden. Our defense should be effective in shutting down Marshall’s freshman quarterback Justin Hart. If they can turn up the pressure on him, the Maverick offense will have no shot.

This game will be a good last one for the seniors. The Tigers will be able to walk away with their heads held high, while the Mavericks return to their losing ways.

My prediction: Texas High- 38; Marshall- 14
