The Texas High boys varsity soccer team was defeated by Hallsville Bobcats 3-2 on Friday, Jan. 29.

“I feel like we played a great game and played the best we have ever played as a team,” senior Roger Moreno said. “We were just unlucky when it came to their goals, but overall I think this season will be better than last year.”

The game started out with the Tigers in the lead when Moreno scored with 7 minutes left in the first half.

“Our weaknesses were a matter of not clearing the ball out when supposed to and not dropping back for support in the middle,” Moreno said. “The strongest part of our team in this game was our ability to able to connect and execute our passes.”

Within 30 seconds of the Tigers’ goal, the Bobcats scored, tying up the game.

“I think we played well tonight, we were passing well,” sophomore Logan Snell said. “We had a few opportunities to score but we missed.”

The Bobcats took the lead in the second half, scoring with 20 minutes left in the game, then again with 16 minutes left, making the score 3-1.

Thirty seconds later, junior Marc Jaramillo scored, with an assist from senior David Sangalli, concluding the game with a score of 3-2.

“I think the rest of the season will go well,” Snell said. “We came together as a team after this game and I think we will play better in the future because of this.”
