Friday, March 10, the boys soccer team hosted the Hallsville Bobcats during Texas High senior night. The seniors honored were: John Debenport, Marc Jaramillo, Zachary Lewis, Isidro Hernandez, Alex Hernandez and Isaiah Davis.

The game commenced after the seniors were applauded, and the Tigers began with a couple of fouls on defense against the Bobcats. There was a powerful shot by the Bobcats 29 minutes into the first half that hit the crossbar but did not go in. The half ended 0-0.

Hallsville scored its first goal at 35 minutes with a shot in the box. The game continued with a couple of Hallsville’s shots hitting the crossbar as well as goalkeeper John Debenport saving some attempts. The Bobcats scored their second goal 18 minutes into the second half and scored again four minutes later, making the score 3-0. The Bobcats quickly put in another goal at 12:17, with a ball blasted past defense. Hallsville scored their final goal with 35 seconds left on the clock, ending the game 5-0 in favor of Hallsville.

“Senior night was a very emotional night for me. Knowing that I would never have the chance to play at Grim again was very hard for me to get over,” senior Alex Hernandez said. “I’ve [come] to love the school, the team and the stadium, and it was a tough game but I enjoyed it very much, [especially since] I got to play with my best friends for the last time at home. I’ve loved every second of every game I’ve played for this school, and I’m thankful for that experience.”
