The Texas High School varsity girls’ soccer team played against the Greenville Lions on Friday, Feb. 16.

The first half was dominated by Texas High, with the ball staying on the Greenville side almost the entire time. The Tigers missed out on several goals early on, with one ball knocking off the crossbar. The Tigers finally scored first with an impressive goal by Sarah Rogers at the end of the first half.

The second half was similar to the first, with Greenville unable to form any kind of momentum. The Tigers were able to defend the Lions for the entire second half and were able to put up another score at the end of the second half by Mia Bowers and assisted by Anna Morgan.

“We had a rough start to the season, but we are looking forward to going out and trying to win,” senior Emma Wolf said. “We have really good team chemistry which has helped us throughout the season as we have had to change our formation.”

The Tigers compete against Hallsville on Tuesday, Feb. 20 in Hallsville.
