The boys basketball team defeated the Mount Pleasant Tigers 58-55 on Jan. 11.

Texas High finished the first quarter with a score of 23-11.

“Luckily, we came out hot,” senior Cole Drumm, who plays power and small forward said. “We came out strong we had a lot of intensity in the beginning of the game. I feel like that helped us down the stretch. how we started helped carry us into the last bit of the game.”

The Tigers closed halftime with a score of 33-26.

“These guys are really aggressive,” Coach Keith Jones said. “They caused us to have a lot of turnovers. We gave them a chance to come back and score. We need all the help we can get. This game marks our 20th win.”

Texas was still going strong at the end of the third quarter with 47-37.

“We all worked as a team,” junior point guard Matthew Arnold said. “We played together and had a lot of great defense.”

The final score was 58-55.

The varsity boys basketball team will play Sulphur Springs on Friday at 7:30 at Sulphur Springs.
