Lady Tigers suffer defeat to Sulphur Springs

Story by Cailey Roberson and Langley Leverett

The Lady Tigers were bested by the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats on Oct. 7, 1-3. Despite a loss on their turf, the Lady Tigers remained persistent and prepared for the oncoming sets.

The first set was easily won by the Lady Cats 16-25, the Lady Cats having earned the first three points and maintaining several score streaks. With a stubborn, determined will, the Lady Tigers continued to push through.

“[We struggled with] not clicking on all cylinders. Like maybe the pass would be good, but the set was bad, or the set was good and the hit was bad,” sophomore Mia Wilson said. “[We need to] be able to click on all cylinders together.”

The Lady Tigers began the second set strong, securing the first 4 points. Although the Lady Cats soon gained ground, the teams began to juggle the points back and forth. Ultimately, Sulphur Springs dominated over the Lady Tigers, with a close, finished score of 22-25.

“Nobody wants to lose. We all want to win,” Wilson said. “Everybody’s willing to do whatever they have to do to win.”
