Golf competes in Tiger Classic

Story by Matt Prieskorn, sports editor

The golf team competed in the Tiger Classic tournament Oct. 13-14 at Texarkana Country Club. The tournament consisted of 16 of some of the top teams in Texas, including Highland Park and Southlake Carroll.

The Tigers finished 12th out of the 16 teams, with Highland Park taking home the team title.

The tournament changed its format this year, going from 18 holes both days to 36 holes the first day and a match-play format the second day. People seemed to embrace the new format and there is already a waiting list for next year.

The Tigers individual results:

Matt Prieskorn: 81-72- won match 4&3

Carter Maneth: 78-72- lost match 2&1

Will Patterson: 86- 81- won match 4&3

Nick Kane: 91-84- lost match 7&6

Camden Robertson: 99-85- lost match 7&6

“This tournament is one of the best tournaments all year,” freshman Carter Maneth said. “It was really cool being a freshman and playing with seniors and doing really well. I already cannot wait until next year.”

The Tigers compete in their next golf tournament Oct. 20-21 in Denton at Robson Ranch golf course.
