The Lady Tigers advanced their district record to 5-1 with a win against the Tyler Lady Lions Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022.

The Lady Tigers completely controlled the pace of the game from the opening points of the first set to the last point of the third.

The Tigers played disciplined throughout the entire first set, making minimal errors and keeping the momentum.

Senior Bella Cherry came up with a huge kill for the Tigers, adding to her nine kills in the set.

Tyler couldn’t control the Tigers or minimize their own errors, metntally and physically.

With 16 kills and 23 digs in the set , the Lady Tigers held the Lady Lions to a single digit score, with a final of 25-9.

The Tigers settled a little in the beginning of the second set, making a few hitting errors, giving the Lions their first lead of the match 1-0.

The set was close through the first 14 points.

Freshman Kyleigh Perkins came up with a much needed kill for Texas, followed by an ace from Cherry to give the Tigers the lead 16-14.

Texas buckled down throughout the remainder of the game, going on a nine point run to win the second set 25-14.

The Tigers opened the game with a big block, and then went on to take a 6-1 lead with some aces and a few kills.

The Tigers had a few defensive and communication errors to give Tyler the majority of their points throughout the set, however, the Tigers remained in control.

Texas capitalized on the errors made by the Lady Lions, finding open spots and picking apart the Tyler defense to put the ball down.

Tyler was unable to overcome the strong Texas offense and kill the ball against the Tiger defense and, ultimately, Texas took the third set 25-14.

The Tigers produced a combined 36 kills after three sets, led by Cherry with 16 kills. Junior Cy Hopkins led with 19 assists. Perkins led defensively with 11 digs.

Texas will face the Mt. Pleasant Tigers Friday, Sept. 30, 2022.
