Texas High hosts its second Red River Hoopfest, here, at Tiger Center Dec. 2 and 3, 2022.

Across America, high school athletics are put on a pedestal. Almost every school has that sport, the one they prevail in, the one they’re best at, the one that everyone looks forward to.

Hoopfest is, essentially, a big showcase, allowing some of the best high school basketball teams to gather and play each other in a designated place. The showcase gives those programs the opportunity to show off their ability in basketball during pre-season.

Our own Texas High Tigers will be competing in the showcase, among 19 other schools.

Duncanville is a featured team that will be participating in the Red River Hoopfest for the second year in a row. After being stripped of their state championship from last season due to a ruling made by UIL, the Duncanville boys and girls also forfeit any chances to make it into playoffs, making pre-season even more important for the teams.

The DeSoto girls basketball team will also check in for their game Saturday, Dec. 3, to face Bartlett out of Tennessee. DeSoto secured the ranking of second in the nation on MaxPreps, with an overall season record of 35-2, winning the girls 6A state championship.

Our Tigers will face Bentonville West Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. and Bossier Airline Dec. 3 at 8 p.m.
