Duncanville defeated Bartlett in the main event of Hoopfest Friday, Dec. 2, 66-51, in a fast paced, high intensity match-up. 

Bartlett came out barreling to begin the first quarter, with a fast break dunk to give them the 2-0 lead. Bartlett tacked on four more points via layup and free throws. 

Both teams played a high speed offense, making way for multiple shot attempts and movement up and down the court. 

Accompanying their offenses, both sides pushed a strong defensive press, forcing ball movement and speeding up the pace of the game. 

Texas commit senior Ron Holland, the top recruit in Texas and tenth in the nation, closed out a huge fast-break dunk, as Duncanville began to pull away.

Duncanville led the Bartlett Panthers 18-10 at the end of the first quarter. 

Duncanville made a 10-0 run to start the second quarter. Bartlett finally broke the spell with a layup and back-to-back turnovers by Duncanville. Bartlett was able to close the point gap to nine. 

Duncanville remained in the lead going into halftime, with a score of 31-22.

Duncanville completely blew the game open in the third quarter, putting up 20 points opposed to Bartlett’s 10. They took control of all momentum, and this carried over into the fourth quarter, and Duncanville took the game 66-51.

Holland led the Panthers, putting up 24 points, shooting nearly 60% from the field. He was followed by senior KJ Lewis with 17 points. 

Duncanville will face off in their second main event game Saturday, Dec. 3, against Newton at 9:30 p.m.
